Research, research, research

Bonjour!

It's my first blog entry. How exciting! So I thought that I would start by talking about all of the preparation necessary for such a trip. Four months (me) to a year (Katie) in a France require a great deal of fun, exciting research and planning. From that weekend of decadence in Monte Carlo to that alpine adventure in Geneva, we need to be ready to travel Europe like the cosmopolitan, world travelers we aspire to be.

As France and Europe has a history longer than Princess Di's wedding train, deciding where to begin can be a daunting task. So what did we do? We jumped into Chives (Katie's lovely car) and made a trip to the travel guide section of Barnes and Noble. Scouring through the books we found a company that makes simply amazing travel guides for students: Let's Go. (I know. Not the most creative of names, but it does the job.) Written by a team of incredibly lucky Harvard undergrads, they give the best advice on traveling in the most luxurious countries on a student's budget.

We spent hours sitting in the Starbucks looking through guides from all parts of Europe. Beginning with (of course) France!

Then Western Europe. . .

And finally, the whole of Europe. . .

Looking through these books just makes me even more excited to go. It's going to be hard focusing on my Organic Chemistry with all of these fabulous sites only a quick train ride away, but that's a challenge I'm willing to accept! :)

au revoir for now!
